State Controller John Chiang says there are a lot of programs that give taxpayers money back.
"People should know about the earned income tax credit. You can get up to $5,000 depending on your qualifications. It's important to be aware of these programs," said Chiang.
Sunday at SEIU Local 99 on West 8th Street in Los Angeles, you can get help preparing your taxes for free. You're advised to call in to make an appointment and to bring all the necessary documents.
The office will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
