Donna Jou's killer to be released from prison

LOS ANGELES

/*Donna Jou*/ was a 19-year-old student at Cal State University San Diego when she disappeared nearly four years ago. Her body has never been found.

But /*John Burgess*/, a convicted sex offender who met Jou online, told police he had given her drugs at a party at his home in Palms and that she overdosed. He said he panicked and dumped her body at sea.

Burgess pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and concealing the death, and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Jou's father said that he has been notified that Burgess will be released.

"He is going to be free again to destroy other families, to destroy other children so this is not right," said Jou. "This guy does not belong to the society. He has to be incarcerated. He has to be kept behind bars."

Mr. Jou said he has been told that Burgess will be freed on parole April 15.
