Are Pia Toscano and Mark Ballas of "Dancing With The Stars" dating?
Toscano, a 22-year-old who was axed from "American Idol" last week in the season's most unexpected elminiation, and Ballas, a 24-year-old professional dancer on the ABC ballroom dancing reality show, are seen together leaving a restaurant in Los Angeles in a video posted on TMZ.
Toscano and Ballas have not confirmed a relationship but are Twitter friends. She recently told People magazine in a video interview: "Mark is a really sweet guy. We went out with a group of friends. He's just a really good friend. Me and Mark vibe well together because he knows what I'm going through."
Ballas voiced his objection to Toscano's elimination on "American Idol" on Twitter. He is currently competing on "Dancing With The Stars" with Disney Channel star Chelsea Kane. Last season, he and partner Bristol Palin made it to third place.
"He gets judged every week and he's kind of on a similar show, only I'm singing and he's dancing, so he's a really nice person to have support from," Toscano told People. "He's just really sweet and extremely supportive."
Chris Jericho, a professional wrestler and celebrity contestant on the current 12th season of "Dancing With The Stars," "helped facilitate the hook-up" between Toscano and Ballas, People reported, quoting an unnamed source as saying that the two "had a great first date" and plan to go out again.
Jericho has not commented on the report but Tweeted on April 7: "Pia is gone?!?!? How in the blue hell is that even possible? Terrible decision, but that leaves a clear path for James Durbin now..."
Jericho and Durbin, a rocker who appears to be the frontrunner on "American Idol" following Toscano's exit, have been hanging out together lately. Durbin also recently earned the support of another wrestler - Hulk Hogan, who surprised him on the show last month.
Thursday's "American Idol" results show saw a dip in ratings - an estimated 21.5 million people watched the episode, down from about 22.6 the previous week. The results show of "Dancing With The Stars" on April 5, which saw the elimination of talk show host Wendy Williams, averaged 16.08 viewers - down from 19.3 million.
"Dancing With The Stars" is down to nine couples - including Ralph Macchio, the star of the original "Karate Kid" movies, and his partner Karina Smirnoff, a pro-dancer who recently posed for Playboy.
"American Idol" is now down to eight finalists - Durbin, Stefano Langone, Jacob Lusk, Lauren Alaina, Casey Abrams, Scotty McCreery, Paul McDonald and Haley Reinhart.
