Rick Monroe has been making albums and entertaining fans for more than 14 years. And like all true artists, he loves hitting the road and bringing the music to the fans.
And this spring, he's doing just that, performing and playing Master of Ceremonies on the 2011 Jagermeister Country Tour. Along with Dierks Bentley, and Josh Thompson, Monroe is getting his country on in nearly 30 cities from coast to coast.
But he took a break from the road to stop by 'On The Red Carpet' to talk about the tour.
"Pretty much everybody's from Nashville," he said. "So it's just a chance to take Nashville out on the road, and show it to America." "I've always been singer, songwriter, and artist, and played," he added. "So when the opportunity came up to actually just emcee, I really didn't know how I would handle that. But now I guess I'm like the country version of Ryan Seacrest. Only a little bit scruffier."
His new single "Get Your County On" is also available now.
"It's just about getting' your country on, you know, let's get it on, let's get your country on," he said. "I think the music speaks to people more on a guttural level. In the sense that every story is something someone can relate to. When you're talking about relationships, or feelings, or emotions, everybody can handle it, and understand it. And it's meant to be that way."
And even after sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in Country Music, Monroe still has moments that take his breath away.
"The biggest moment was Charlie Daniels. We we're playing The Wild Horse with him, and he comes walkin' up, and here's Charlie Daniels! And he walks up and I'm with my wife, and he goes, hi there ma'am I'm Charlie Daniels. And I'm like of course you're Charlie Daniels! And my wife's just like hi Mr. Daniels," he laughed.
Monroe's even developing a new reality TV show, "It's a cool concept, cause you kinda get the Travel Channel, like I said remodeling, plus all the history of Country Music, he said. "We're gonna go to different Honky Tonks, talk about it, maybe bring in other acts that kinda cut their teeth there. I think it will be a really cool experience."
