World-renowned marine artist Wyland joined students at St. Anne School in Laguna Niguel to paint a mural in memory of kindergartner Maddie James, who passed away last month of an inoperable brain tumor.
Wyland heard about Maddie and planned to paint a sea turtle with her, but they never had the chance.
Maddie's family is now trying to raise money to help the Ocean Institute in Dana Point build a new seaside learning center.
The family hopes it will one day be named after their brave little girl.
