Woman says US Marine raped her at Denver Airport

DENVER

The 22-year-old woman, who wants her identity concealed, says she met 26-year-old Noel Alexander Bertran after missing her flight Tuesday after midnight.

He offered to sit with her, and then tried to kiss her. She said she told him to stop, and then he threw her to the ground and raped her. Because it was so late, the airport was almost empty.

The victim said she's angry because two people who walked by did nothing.

"They looked like janitorial employees," said the woman. "But I was appalled that I was going through something so brutal and they kept walking."

The alleged rape ended after grounds crewman saw the attack through a window and called police. Denver authorities said Bertran is being held on suspicion of assault and felony sex assault.
