Polar bears awake from hibernation on construction site

SPY ISLAND, Alaska

They went into hibernation back in October and came out of their den in March on the new site for an Italian oil company just north of Prudhoe Bay.

The polar bears didn't seem to mind, as they rolled around in the snow. However, workers at the oil company were a bit surprised.

They contacted wildlife officials who set up a camera to observe the polar bears.

The animals eventually left the island and work resumed at the site.
