The hour-long chase started early Thursday morning in East Los Angeles and ended in Mission Viejo.
The CHP says the car briefly stopped in Commerce and officers approached the vehicle on foot, but the man drove the car toward an officer. An officer the fired at the driver. The man was struck in the hand, then drove away.
The CHP laid spike-strips in Mission Viejo, forcing the car to stop.
The driver was arrested and hospitalized.
The female passenger was also taken into custody.
No officers were hurt.
