Block party fundraiser on 'Desperate Housewives' street

LOS ANGELES

Teri Hatcher will join James Denton and the rotating cast of the Band From TV at the Wisteria Lane Block Party to help raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"They're going to have some of the houses open for people to go in and look at it," said Denton of the fictional street in which the characters of the show live. "It's really pretty fascinating if you watch the show. It's going to be a fun night."

The block party will include a barbecue and a silent auction.

This is the sixth year the Band From TV has performed for charity. They've raised north of $2 million so far.

In addition to Denton, actors in the band lineup include Greg Grunberg of "Heroes," Jorge Garcia of "Lost," Bob Guiney of "The Bachelor," Jesse Spencer of "House," Adrian Pasdar of "Desperate Housewives" and Scott Grimes of "ER."

"It really is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, in a lot of respects ... because you can't ever go into those houses," Denton said. "It's really interesting to see how that set operates.

There is also a personal connection for Denton to cystic fibrosis.

"I actually had a friend die of cystic fibrosis back in the 80s, but it's much different now because she was my age," he said. "When you were born in the early 60s, college was about all you could hope to see. Now we have a writer on our show who was, I think, in his late 40s when he had a lung transplant and is going strong."
