OTRC: Mr. Moviefone reviews 'Rio,' 'Scream 4' and 'The Conspirator'

This week at the movies, the Ghostface killer is back, and I ain't talkin' about the rapper. And some nerdy birds are shaking their tail feathers in the new 3-D animated adventure "Rio."

Blu is a domesticated blue macaw who leaves his small town in Minnesota for Rio De Janeiro to "hook up" with the only lady blue macaw in existence and save the species. But as soon as the love birds get together, they are quickly stolen by animal smugglers and have to escape to make their way home.

The Reel Deal: Great-looking, fun, bright, good voice cast. I actually liked the 3-D, and so far, it's the year's most musical and colorful animated movie. And I loved the Scrat short before the movie. So grab the hatchlings and flock to see "Rio." You'd be a bird brain not to see it. Don't get "mc'caught" without a ticket! I'm in.

Speaking of dirty birds, the killer in the freaky white mask is back in "Scream 4."

Sidney returns home to promote her autobiography but soon realizes she's not the only one back in town. Ghostface has returned and the body count starts to rise. Starring are Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere.

The Reel Deal: Now you ask yourself, is "Scream 4" just a big-studio money grab and actors collecting paychecks? Of course, but that's beside the point. Going away for a decade, and coming back as a pseudo-self parody is a good strategy. It's a clever, bloody, fun flashback that reminds us of what made horror films fun in the first place. I'm in.

And in limited release, Robert Redford directs "The Conspirator."

It's about the lone woman arrested and charged in the assassination of President Lincoln and the lawyer who risked everything to uncover the truth. Starring are James McAvoy, Robin Wright, Tom Wilkinson, Evan Rachel Wood and Kevin Kline.

The Reel Deal: Who knew? I thought the story was interesting. Solid cast. It's a little slow here and there, but worth checking out. I'm in.
