"Smallville" is set to end on May 13 after 10 years and viewers will get to see some familiar faces ahead of the two-hour finale.
Warning: Spoilers ahead!
The show, which stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, aka Superman, is set to return on Friday, April 14 with the episode "Kent." John Schneider reprises his role as Kent's father Jonathan in an alternative reality, where his character is much angrier. Meanwhile, Clark Luthor is up to no good.
"It's a really great story of redemption, in addition to a pretty terrifying story on this side of the looking glass, where Clark Luthor has been unleashed," Brian Peterson, an executive producer of the show, said in a video interview provided by the CW network (see below).
On the episode "Booster" on April 22, a fame-hungry superhero, Booster Gold, wins over the people of Metropolis to Kent's dismay, while an alien weapon turns a boy into the Blue Beetle.
The villain Zod returns in the episode "Dominion" on April 29 after being banished from Earth (see spoiler photos).
Tess, played by Cassidy Freeman, "learns that General Slade was found unconscious on a street corner, proof that someone has gained access to the Phantom Zone's escape portal and sent him back," according to the CW's episode synopsis.
"Kent returns to the exiled land and is furious when Oliver, played by Justin Hartley, tricks Clark into taking him along," it says. "With Clark's powers gone, the two are immediately captured by the Zoners who take them to their new leader, Zod (Callum Blue), who is thirsting for revenge on Clark for banishing him to this Kryptonian jail."
"We haven't seen this Zod before - he's kind of a combination of all the different Zods we've seen into one character," executive producer Kelly Souders told TVLine.com. "He's not happy. He has not had a good couple of months."
On the episode "Prophecy" on May 6, Kent's cousin Kara, or Supergirl, comes back.
Meanwhile, Kent and Lois Lane, played by Erica Durance, are preparing to marry on the series finale and she meets her fiance's biological father, Jor-El. He will give her a preliminary wedding gift - Superman's powers for a day, TVLine.com says.
Soulders told TVGuide.com that the wedding "tests their relationship, and they both separately get put through the wringer," adding: "At the end of the day, with everything that they're juggling in their lives, the question is whether or not they feel like getting married is really the most responsible thing."
