OTRC: Matthew Morrison: Elton John was 'so game' about collaboration

Matthew Morrison talks to OnTheRedCarpet.com about his new album, a big 'Glee' episode and directing an episode.

Matthew Morrison, who plays Mr. Schuester on "Glee," has two major guest collaborators on his debut album - actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who appeared on the FOX musical comedy series, and Elton John.

"Elton was a bigger thing just because I'm friendly with him but I don't know him that well," Morrison told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith and other reporters in a satellite interview. "So it was really a kind of nerve-wracking process to ask him to do it but he was so accommodating and so game for the whole thing."

Morrison's album is set to hit stores in early May. On Tuesday, April 19, his song with John, a mashup of the Grammy-winning singer's tracks "Rocket Man" and "Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters (listen here)," will be released as an digital single, as will his duet with Paltrow - cover of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow (listen here)."

Morrison released his first single from his album back in late February on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show.

Morrison spent about ten years on Broadway before joining the cast of "Glee" He told OnTheRedCarpet.com that he hopes that his upcoming album will appeal to the eclectic "Glee" audience.

Also on Tuesday, Paltrow can be seen reprising her "Glee" guest role of substitute teacher Holly Holiday, Morrison's character's love interest. She has covered songs such as Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" and Cee Lo Green's "Forget You" on the show. She also showcased her singing skills in her recent film "Country Strong" and at the Oscars and Grammy Awards.
