Ali Fedotowsky of the most recent season of "The Bachelorette" had to get 5 staples in her head on Sunday after capsizing on a kayak with her fiancé Roberto Martinez.
"Ali and Roberto had a little mishap when their kayak capsized this weekend," her rep confirmed to Us Weekly. "Ali was taken to the hospital and had 5 staples put in her head. Roberto was fantastic - he kept her calm and took great care of her."
Fedotowsky, 26 and Martinez, 27, were kayaking in La Jolla, California when the reality star was knocked overboard. She took to Twitter to tell her fans what had happened and admit that she was more scared about the doctor cutting her hair than about him stapling her head.
"Made it out of the ER w/staples in my head & a little less hair after falling out of a kayak. Scary stuff. Wearing a helmet next time," Fedotowsky Tweeted on Sunday evening. I think I freaked out more when the doctor cut my hair rather than when he put staples into my head. Lol. Very thankful to be ok."
Fedotowsky managed to recover enough to return to work at San Diego's Fox 5, where she is an on-air correspondent and Tweeted that she has a headache but hid the damage.
"Thanks so much everyone for your concern," Fedotowsky Tweeted on Monday. "Big headache, but managed to hide staples w/hair part and I am back at work this morning."
The former reality star announced last week that she would be co-hosting an upcoming talk show on the Style Network.
The couple, who got engaged in August 2010 on the final episode of the sixth season of "The Bachelorette," moved to San Diego where they enjoy a "slower change of pace." At the recent Reality Rocks expo, Fedotowsky told OnTheRedCarpet.com that she's enjoying the laid-back lifestyle.
"At first it was a big change of pace because I was in San Francisco and liked the hustle and bustle up there," Fedotowsky told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "It's a lot more laid-back but he's teaching me to just chill out, you live longer and life is good. You live longer."
Despite being madly in love, the couple is in no rush to get married and pushed back the date of their spring wedding. At the reality show convention, Fedotowsky said only that they planned to get married, "some time in this lifetime."
