A local assemblyman is introducing a bill that would require parents' permission before schools can teach sexual education.

The Parental Oversight and Involvement Act is authored by Assemblyman Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa).

The bill would also require parental permission for classes that cover morality, religion and gender or sexual orientation.

Assembly Bill 1348 would prevent schools from conducting mental or physiological screenings without parental consent as well.
