Kate Beckinsale has reportedly been offered the lead female role of Lori in the new "Total Recall" movie remake, which stars Colin Farrell.
Beckinsale's spokesperson had no immediate comment on the Deadline.com report, which also said the 37-year-old British actress has yet to formally accept the part.
The original science fiction movie "Total Recall" was released in 1990 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid, a man who is haunted by a recurring dream about a journey to Mars and recalls being a secret agent fighting against the evil ruler of the Red Planet following a memory implantation.
Farrell has been cast in Schwarzenegger's old role. Sharon Stone played Lori, Quaid's wife, in the original film.
The new movie is set for release on Aug. 3, 2012 and its director is Len Wiseman, Beckinsale's husband. He also helmed the first two "Underworld" vampire movies, which featured her as heroine Selene. She is currently filming a new sequel, "Underworld 4: New Dawn," which hits theaters on Jan. 20, 2012.
Beckinsale appeared in the 2009 movie "Everybody's Fine" with Drew Barrymore and Robert De Niro and also recently shot the film "Contraband, an English language adaptation of the 2008 Icelandic movie "Reykjavic-Rotterdam." The new film is due in theaters on March 16, 2012 and also stars Mark Wahlberg as a security guard with money problems who considers returning to his old smuggling ways.
