HOUSTON

The University of Houston confirms that the Oscar-nominated actor has been accepted to the school's doctoral program in literature and creative writing with plans to enroll in September 2012.

The university says it selects 20 students every year from about 400 applicants.

The 33-year-old actor has also been studying in a doctoral program in English at Yale University.

Franco co-hosted the 83rd Academy Awards with Anne Hathaway in February.
