Jim Carrey is reportedly set to make a guest appearance on the season 7 finale of "The Office," along with previously announced stars Ricky Gervais and Will Arnett.
This is the last season for Steve Carell, who plays boss Michael Scott. He has said his character would make an exit before the finale on May 19.
Gervais, who co-created the series and its original British version, which featured him as the boss character, and "Arrested Development" star Arnett are set to also make an appearance. Will Ferrell recently began a recurring role as manager Deangelo Vickers.James Spader, Ray Romano and Catherine Tate are set to appear on the season finale of "The Office" along with Carrey, the Hollywood Reporter said. The show's network, NBC, has not commented.
The guest stars will play characters who interview for Scott's management position, the Hollywood Reporter said. "The Office" actor Rainn Wilson told Entertainment Weekly in January that Ferrell is not expected to replace Carell on the series permanently.
Carell had said he is leaving the show to spend more time with his family. In recent years, he starred in major films such as "Little Miss Sunshine" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."
Carell has said "The Office" will be able to continue to be successful without him and hopes his character ends up happy.
Carrey, a 49-year-old actor who rose to fame with comedy films such as "The Mask" and "Ace Ventura," recently got a new haircut and showed off his mohawk and paint-splattered arms on his Twitter account this week, with the accompanying Tweet, "I am a paintbrush."
The actor most recently starred opposite Ewan McGregor in "I Love You, Phillip Morris" and said of his co-star, "he is a great kisser."
Carrey will next star in a film adaptation of the children's book, "Mr. Popper's Penguins," which is slated for release on June 17.
