Denise Richards says she has offered to take care of the 2-year-old twin sons of her ex-husband Charlie Sheen and his estranged wife Brooke Mueller.
Mueller, 33, has reportedly relapsed after battling substance abuse and is said to have begun a new round of treatment. Sheen, a 45-year-old actor who had recently been treated for addictions to drugs and alcohol himself, is currently on tour following his firing from the CBS comedy series "Two and a Half Men."
In March, they were removed from his home, where he lives with two younger girlfriends, or "goddesses." Mueller filed a temporary restraining order against the actor, citing domestic violence and calling him "insane."
"I've put it out there several times over the past couple of years that if they need help, I'm here," Richards, 40, recently said on the Bravo cable network show "Watch What Happens Live." I would love the boys to stay and be with the girls. Whatever help they needed, I was definitely offering."
Sheen and Mueller have not responded to Richards' remarks.
"I haven't spoken to her since she's checked in but I will when she's available," Richards added. "I give Brooke a lot of credit that she's ... trying to fix her issue."
Richards and Sheen were married between 2002 and 2006. She lives with their daughters, Sam and Lola. Richards says she still communicates with her ex-husband but does not know if he is currently sober.
Sheen and Mueller married in 2008. The actor filed for divorce from Mueller in November and agreed to pay $55,000 a month in child support. Their divorce is set to be finalized on May 2.
Following his firing from "Two and a Half Men" in early March, Sheen has been keeping busy with a live tour. He is said to have bad-mouthed Richards during several shows.
"I think for me it's very sad to see him on this path," Richards said. I've heard he's chosen to use me in part of his tour and that's hurtful, but that's his choice. I haven't heard the actual show but I've heard bits and pieces. I just think there's some places you shouldn't go. But he chooses to and that's his choice."
