Flavor Flav's fried chicken restaurant in Iowa has closed up shop after at least three months due to a dispute between the rapper and his business partner.
The 52-year-old rapper, whose real name is William Drayton Jr., is also known for his VH1 dating reality series "Flavor of Love."
"I gave this man permission to take my name and my life to go and operate a business," Flavor Flav said in an audio recording obtained by the Associated Press. "I have to do whatever possible for me to sue my name and the only way that I can save my name is to shut the business down because Nick Samino is not running the business right." His partner, Nick Cimino, told the Quad-City Times that Flavor Flav "mismanaged" the eatery "right from the beginning because he didn't know what he was doing."
Flavor Flav graduated from cooking school in 1978 and worked as a head cook in several restaurants.
"You're going to find me in here working," Flavor Flav told the Clinton Herald newspaper in January. "You're going to be catching me seasoning my chicken, flouring my chicken, frying up my chicken, and not only that, but serving my chicken to my people. The taste will blow up your taste buds. You'll have fireworks in there."
Flavor Flav, who is known for sporting a clock around his neck and who has been the subject of a Comedy Central Roast, has also been keeping busy with his autobiography, "Flavor Flav: The Icon." The book is set for release on June 1.
