Russell Crowe is reportedly looking to make his debut as a director by helming a period crime drama called '77.'
While the Oscar-winning actor and his spokespeople have not commented about the actor's interest behind the camera, Deadline.com reports that he is "seriously considering" starring and directing the film, which is based on a story by "L.A. Confidential" writer James Ellroy.
"Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf is on as one of the producers according to the site. The film will deal with an unsolved murder of a Los Angeles Police Department officer in 1974 and the "nationally televised shootout in South Central L.A. between the Symbionese Liberation Army and the LAPD, where 50,000 rounds of gunfire were exchanged."
According to the website the movie will feature the perspective of two police partners, one white and one black.
