Study: Cayenne pepper helps burn calories

A new study shows cayenne pepper, when combined with other weight loss efforts, helps burn calories.

A new study shows cayenne pepper, when combined with other weight loss efforts, helps burn calories.

Study participants given about a half teaspoon of cayenne pepper mixed in food burned 10 more calories than those who ate the same meal without the red pepper.

Researchers say participants also reported a decrease in appetite.

The study was partly supported by the National Institutes of Health and the McCormick Spice Company.
