Police impersonator arrested for grand theft

A suspected police impersonator was arrested on grand theft charges Tuesday.

A suspected police impersonator was arrested on grand theft and unlawful use of a badge charges Tuesday.

Jose Quintana, 39, is accused of posing as a police officer to defraud arrested individuals and/or their families. Investigators say Quintana had a police badge and a gun.

He claimed to be an undercover officer and told his false arrestees he could make the criminal case against them disappear for a fee.

Police are looking for more possible victims of the scam.

Anyone with any information related to Quintana was asked to call the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division at (213) 486-6840.
