Airlines hike ticket prices for US flights

United and Continental airlines raised their prices by as much as $20 per round trip ticket for domestic flights.

Travelers will pay more for airline tickets on their next domestic flight.

United and Continental airlines raised their prices for roundtrip tickets by as much as $20 on many U.S. routes.

Fares went up $3 each way on flights longer than 500 miles, and $10 each way for first-class tickets.

Airlines in the U.S. have raised their prices more than a half dozen times this year.

Airlines say they are trying to cover spiraling fuel costs across the airline industry.
