"I'm a guitarist. That's all I am - with a sense of humor and an attitude," she says.
Sunday at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, she'll bring it all: music, fun and spectacle.
She's promising quite a show. After all, she did create a couple of signature moves.
"I'm supposed to have 10 percent from Beyonce and Shakira," she said, meaning she created some of the moves in the 70s that are seen today.
This year, she insisted on singing a song her son originally wrote with someone else in mind.
"I said, 'Play it,' so he played it and I said, 'Screw Britney Spears. It's mine. I'm your mother,'" Charo said.
"Sexy Sexy" is the hit title track on Charo's latest album.
She calls it sensual, cute and irresistible. She also loves the lyrics.
