Ventura man stabbed in traffic-light confrontation

A confrontation that started behind a traffic light escalated into a stabbing in Ventura, leaving one man injured on Friday, April 29, 2011.

A confrontation that started behind a traffic light escalated into a stabbing in Ventura, leaving one man injured.

Timoty Matakovich, 21, was stopped at a red light in the 3000 block of Johnson Drive at about 11:20 p.m. Friday when someone from a nearby car threw an unknown object at his vehicle.

At that point, Matakovich pulled over to the side of the road, followed by the other vehicle, a gray four-door sedan.

Matakovich was then approached by one of the occupants of the other car and was stabbed. The suspects fled in an unknown direction.

The victim was transported to the Ventura County Medical Center where he was treated for non life-threatening stab wounds to his left arm and upper torso.
