4 arrested for pointing laser at LA sheriff's helicopters

LOS ANGELES

The lasers are dangerous because when they hit the windshield, they fill the cockpit with light, disorienting pilots or causing temporary blindness. Some pilots have sustained long-term visual impairment.

Authorities said Sunday that two of the suspects are a 15-year-old boy from Pico Rivera and a 16-year-old boy from Los Alamitos.

They face charges in incidents in the Pico Rivera sheriff's station area in December and April.

The other two are 25-year-old men from La Puente and Maywood for incidents in September and December.
