Woman barricades self in home after allegedly pulling gun on brother

NORTHRIDGE, LOS ANGELES

The situation started around 10 p.m. Monday. Authorities said the 65-year-old woman barricaded herself in the home after threatening her brother with a gun. She was taken into custody shortly before 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

Devonshire Street was shut down between Amestoy and Louise avenues. About 10 people in nearby homes were evacuated.

Officers said they tried contacting the woman for several hours, but she did not respond. They heard her moving around, but several calls and attempts to contact her went unanswered.

Lt. Abel Pargo of the Los Angeles Police Department said officers even tried to use tear gas to get the woman to come out.

The incident remained under investigation.
