According to U.S. Attorney André Birotte Jr., the suspects were involved in the drug trafficking network of two gangs in the area.
The investigation began after local police suspected the Six Deuce Brims Bloods and the Northwest (Santa Maria) street gang were involved with crimes including narcotics dealings and firearms sales.
Nine of the suspects are charged with conspiracy and distributing methamphetamine, while two of the suspects were arrested on state violations in connection with the investigation.
