OTRC: Kelly Preston shot herself in 1990, Charlie Sheen says while on tour

Kelly Preston speaks to OnTheRedCarpet.com at the opening of her friend and actress Kirstie Alley's 'Organic Liaison' health food store in Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.

Kelly Preston shot herself in 1990, her then fiancé Charlie Sheen told a crowd in Canada earlier this week.

During his "Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option Tour" stop in Vancouver on Monday night, Sheen opened up about the infamous night when Preston got hurt when a gun went off.

Sheen insisted that his ex-girlfriend was injured when the toilet bowl broke after a gun that was left his pants discharged. He reportedly told the audience that he was making coffee when he heard a gun go off.

"I thought, 'She did it, she finally [expletive] did it. She killed herself, and they're gonna blame me," The Toronto Sun quoted Sheen as saying.

Sheen said he ran upstairs and found Preston naked and covered in blood. When he asked her what happened, she said, "The gun went off, the gun went off." He said he thought it was just an excuse.

"I didn't know whether to ring 911 or 411. But for years, people always talked about the time I tried to kill Kelly Preston," Sheen said.

The former "Two and a Half Men" actor recently told a similar story on the "The Howard Stern Show," saying, "It was the dumbest thing I've ever done even though I wasn't in the room. That's when I decided it was probably not a good idea to have [guns] around."

The couple broke up not too long after the gun incident. Preston doesn't seem to hold anything against Sheen. She recently called him a "great man."

A year after she broke off her engagement to Sheen, Preston, 48, married John Travolta. Preston currently lives with Travolta, their daughter Ella Blue, 10, and their baby Benjamin.

Meanwhile, Sheen's divorce with Brooke Mueller was finalized on Monday.
