LAPD detectives arrested 29-year-old Gazi Kabir Thursday afternoon and charged him with unlawful sex with a minor.
According to the school's website the teacher had been appointed in 2010 and taught social studies.
The LAPD says the suspect had at least a two-month relationship with a 15-year-old student. They also say he had a prior crime report filed against him in 2007 for child annoyance. That allegedly occurred at a school in South Los Angeles, but there was no criminal filing in that case.
According to public documents dated November 2010, Kabir had his certification suspended by the state of /*California Commission on Teacher Credentialing*/. That suspension was for 14 days. The suspension was for moral or unprofessional misconduct.
School officials did not comment Thursday.
