MTV coordinator was killed with shotgun

MID-CITY, LOS ANGELES

Gabriel Ben-Meir, 30, lived an apartment in Mid-City. The L.A. County Coroner's Office confirmed Tuesday that he was shot with a shotgun in the back of the head.

The shooting occurred Sunday morning. It was Mother's Day and he was planning on spending the day with his mother.

There are still no suspects and no motives have been reported.

Ben-Meir was between his car and his apartment when he was killed.

He was a music and production coordinator at MTV.

Nick Ben-Meir, Gabriel's father, said: "There's no possibility his son could have had an enemy in the world. He was such a sweet kid. We don't understand. It was so vicious. Maybe somebody followed him home."

That's what police have been trying to find out. Was he followed home and shot after leaving his car on the street or was he going back to the car?

Neighbors heard a loud noise between midnight and 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Gabriel Ben-Meir was a new resident according to his neighbors. He had only recently moved in. His body wasn't found for nearly four hours after he was shot, according to police, by a neighbor walking his dog.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the LAPD at (877) LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).
