Trial of American hikers in Iran delayed

TEHRAN, Iran

The Iranian attorney for Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal says they were not brought to court, and Iranian officials have not said why.

The two men have been jailed since their July 2009 arrest. They were hiking in Northern Iraq when Iranian border forces detained them for crossing into Iran illegally. They insist they were merely hiking, but Iran claims they were spying.

Bauer's fiance Sarah Shourd was also arrested, but she was freed last year on humanitarian grounds.

Shourd and Bauer's mother, Cindy Hickey, says they are concerned about the men's health. Fattal's brother, Alex Fattal, said the families were hoping Wednesday's appearance would bring resolution.
