OTRC: Mia Amber Davis of 'Road Trip' dies at 36

Mia Amber Davis, who romanced DJ Qualls in the 2000 cult comedy movie "Road Trip," has died at age 36.

The actress passed away on May 10 following complications from a routine surgery on her knee, FOX News reported.

On "Road Trip," the 36-year-old actress played Rhonda, the large and in-charge woman who seduces the scrawny geek character Kyle Edwards, who was played by actor DJ Qualls.

"Mia Davis, the love interest in my first movie, Road Trip has passed. Im so sad She will always be a meaningful person in my life path. RIP," Qualls wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

Davis' husband Michael Yard told news outlets that he talked to his wife the day after surgery and she was in a good mood, but shortly after she became dizzy and was brought back to the hospital, where she passed away. Yard said, "I want to know what happened to my wife."

The actress and plus-sized model began her career as a producer on "The Ricki Lake Show," "Change of Heart" and "Divorce Court."

Davis was one of the most successful plus-sized models working in the fashion industry and appeared on reality shows, "The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency," "Kimora's Life in the Fab Lane."
