Ontario man sought in Central Calif. meth operation

ONTARIO, Calif.

Julio Gutierrez and Ontario resident Mario Garcia are accused of orchestrating the sale of narcotics across the Central Coast and to locations outside California.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department received information from one its confidential informants that Gutierrez was transporting multiple pounds of methamphetamine supplied by Garcia across state lines.

A multi-agency task force arrested Guiterrez and three other suspects Wednesday, as well as seizing eight pounds of methamphetamine. Authorities are still searching for Garcia.

The four defendants made an appearance in United States District Court in Los Angeles Thursday.

Gutierrez and Garcia have been charged with distributing methamphetamine, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison and statutory maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted.

The names of the three others arrested haven't been released.
