Officials said a suspicious shipping container that arrived in the Port of Long Beach Thursday night was filled with barbecue equipment.

The container had a handwritten message that said, "There is a bomb in here," according to Long Beach police.

The container arrived at Terminal 94, which is between the 710 Freeway and Henry Ford Avenue, around 11 p.m. Thursday.

The immediate area was evacuated while the bomb squad investigated.

Officials said the container came from a ship that originated in China.
