Dr. Drew Pinksy has denied that Jeff Conaway who starred in the series "Taxi" and the film "Grease" and was hospitalized earlier this week, is in the hospital for drug-related issues.

Dr. Drew visit the actor in the hospital on Friday night and announced on Twitter that Conaway is stable and he is in an induced coma after struggling with Pneumonia, but denies that there was an overdose.

"Just visited Jeff Conaway. He is stable & looks like he will recover from his pneumonia. Not an OD like press is alleging & certainly not dead," Dr. Drew wrote on Twitter. "He's in an induced coma. He's actually on a Propafol drip... Pneumonia with sepsis. No evidence of intentional OD."

Conaway has battled addictions to cocaine, alcohol and prescription painkillers since he was a teenager and talked about his struggles on the VH1 reality series "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" in 2008.

The 60-year-old actor was hospitalized on Wednesday and his manager told the Associated Press that the actor was in the hospital and in a coma following a drug overdose, possibly from pain pills. His manager added that Conaway was found unconscious on May 11 and is in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Times had reported that Conaway was recently hospitalized near Los Angeles and is unconscious and suffering from pneumonia.

The actor was also hospitalized in January 2010 after falling down a staircase in his Los Angeles home. He broke his hip and arm, fractured his back and suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Conaway played Kenickie, a member of the T-Birds clique and friend to John Travolta's Danny in the 1978 musical film "Grease" and portrayed Bobby Wheeler on the television show "Taxi," which also starred late comedian Andy Kaufman and ran between 1978 and 1983.
