Hines Ward was deemed the winner of the 12th season of "Dancing With The Stars" on Tuesday and the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver says he already knows where he will place his mirror ball trophy.
"It's going right by my Super Bowl MVP trophy," Ward told OnTheRedCarpet.com after the taping of the finale. "It's a great accomplishment."
The 35-year-old football star was voted the MVP of Super Bowl XL, which the Steelers won in 2006. On the finale of "Dancing With The Stars," Ward and pro-dance partner Kym Johnson beat runners-up Kirstie Alley, who placed second with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Chelsea Kane and her partner Mark Ballas, who came in third.
"The Super Bowl - it takes a lot of my teammates, it takes all 53 guys to come together to win a Super Bowl," Ward said. "But this dancing competition ... it was just Kym and I putting in the hard work, the hard times in the studio, going through falls. Here we are, we're holding the mirror ball trophy."
Johnson suffered a neck injury in mid-May during a rehearsal with Hines, weeks before the finale. She later danced in rehearsals in a neck brace. "Look at that smile!" Johnson said about her win with Hines. "I knew he was going to light up the room every single week and he has."
"But his talent - he's amazing," she added. "His footwork is incredible, his determination is great and he's just got the whole package. I just had so much fun every single week teaching Hines to dance. He never complained, he wore everything I wanted him to wear. He worked so hard in the studio and hard work pays off."
