Kylie Minogue celebrates her 43rd birthday on Saturday, May 28th and she tells OnTheRedCarpet.com that she plans to do it in Los Angeles.
Minogue talked to OnTheRedCarpet.com backstage at the Hollywood Bowl during one of the final performances of the North American leg of her "Aphrodite Live 2011 Tour." The show moves to Brisbane, Australia on June 3rd, for the first of ten sold out Australian shows, then "Aphrodite" continues to Southeast Asia and South Africa.
When Minogue is in Los Angeles she may be spotted at the thrift stores. She tells us thrift store shopping is one of her favorite activities saying, "I used to like going to the thrift stores, but I'm talking about many, many, many moons ago before 'vintage' was cool. So I can't really do that anymore because something is two years old and it's called 'vintage' with a really hefty price tag."
If Minogue works up an appetite shopping, she knows exactly where she wants to grab a bite to eat.
"I like really bad diners," the pop star revealed. "I mean that in the nicest way, like a dive place. I'm a real coffee snob, but on that particular occasion, for the experience, just give me a cup of joe, the one that I normally really hate. I just want it and sit here (enjoy it) because I'm not recognized (in Los Angeles) by the majority of people so I can have a conversation with the dude next to me. It's kind of how I get my kicks here."
Now, imagine if you are thrift store shopping or at your neighborhood diner and saw Kylie Minogue, that's how the singer says she would feel if she ran into Jane Fonda.
"I would be really star struck to meet Jane Fonda. I have friends who are friends with her and they tell me she is just the coolest woman. I probably wouldn't be, but in theory I think I would be because I just idolize people like her, like Dolly Parton, the more mature ladies who have been there, done it, rewritten the rule book. They are the kind of chicks I look up to."
Kylie's sister, Dannii Minogue is also a performer. For years, fans have begged for a Kylie/Dannii collaboration. The two have worked together before on one duet, and if the right project comes along, Kylie says the Minogue Sisters are ready for it.
"We did one (duet) for the soundtrack for a TV show in England," Minogue said. "We dueted on a cover of ABBA's 'The Winner Takes It All,' but if anyone wants a bit of Kylie and Dannii action," she laughs, "that could have come out the wrong way," and continued, "my favorite thing that we have done together is we did a catfight, a comedy sketch catfight for show in England a while back. She and I speak the same language. We both have been in showbiz a long time. We know the ups and downs of it and we would definitely love to do something together again, or many things in the future."
Minogue is very active on twitter and she promises that she writes all of her own tweets. You can follow Kylie at @KylieMinogue.
