Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and co-star Deena Nicole Cortese were recently involved in a minor vehicle crash in Italy, where they are filming the fourth season of their MTV reality show "Jersey Shore."
The two have not commented publicly and the Associated Press quoted the network as saying no alcohol was involved and no one was arrested during the incident.
"Jersey Shore" was the top-rated cable shows of 2010. The series depicts a group of party-loving, self-proclaimed "Guidos and Guidettes" and has become a pop culture phenomenon.
The Italian website La Repubblica said a Fiat Multipla carrying Polizzi, Cortese and a "Jersey Shore" production worker struck a traffic police squad car in Florence on Sunday afternoon. Two cops were taken to a local hospital but there were no reports of serious injuries, it reported.
Polizzi is known for her bright, skimpy outfits and loud voice, and has emerged to be one of the most popular "Jersey Shore" cast members. In April, she participated in and helped win a battle at WrestleMania XXVII.
She has also made headlines due to her public antics.
In September 2010, she pleaded guilty to interfering with "the public's right to find enjoyment" while acting drunk on a beach the previous summer during a "Jersey Shore" shoot. She was fined about $500 and ordered by a judge, who called her a "Lindsay Lohan wannabe", to serve one day of community service.
A year earlier, Polizzi generated online buzz with a video that showed her getting punched in the face by a 24-year-old high school gym teacher during a confrontation at a bar.
Polizzi and friend and cast member Jenni "JWoww" Farley are set to star in their own "Jersey Shore" spinoff, which is scheduled to begin production later this year.
