Alec Baldwin dons blond shoulder-length hair and stubble in a new photo posted by Russell Brand and Adam Shankman from the set of their new musical film "Rock of Ages."
The movie began production several weeks ago and is set for release on June 1, 2012. It is based on the hit Broadway musical which features 1980's-era "hair metal" hits from bands like Journey, Bon Jovi and Whitesnake.
Baldwin, who currently stars in the NBC sitcom "30 Rock," portrays Dennis Dupree, an ex-rocker who runs a club in Los Angeles' famed Sunset Strip rock district. Dee Snider, singer of rock group Twisted Sister, whose music is featured in the musical, once played the character on Broadway.
"Now this has happened with me and @alec_baldwin," Brand said on his Twitter page. "Does reality even matter?"
Baldwin, 53, on Tuesday Tweeted that he was "on the set with the one and only Russell Brand." Baldwin joined Twitter on May 27.
Brand plays Lonny, Dupree's friend and the musical's narrator. The movie also stars Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Julianne Hough, Bryan Cranston, Paul Giamatti, Diego Boneta and Malin Ackerman.
"I sing like I golf," Baldwin Tweeted on May 29. "And I golf like I speak German."
Baldwin has played Jack Donaghy on "30 Rock" since its debut in 2006. The show has generated a slew of younger fans for the actor, who had previously starred in films such as "Beetlejuice" and "The Hunt For Red October" - both of which were shot when the music from "Rock of Ages" was first released.
He has said that starring in "30 Rock" changed his life and has not decided what he will do when he leaves. The actor has one year left on his contract and has said that he may pursue a political career one day.
