Memorial service announced for Ashton Sweet

A memorial service for announced for Irvine teen Ashton Sweet, who died from injuries sustained in a DUI crash.

Ashton Sweet, 14, was riding in a car with four other people early Sunday morning when they were struck by a suspected drunken driver.

Sweet was critically injured and kept on life support until Tuesday, when she was declared dead.

Three other teen girls were injured in the car, one critically, while the other two were hospitalized and released. One of the teens' father was driving the car and was not seriously injured.

A memorial service for Ashton Sweet was announced Friday.

The memorial service will be held on Monday, June 6, at 5 p.m.

The service will be held at the Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County, at 12012 Yale Court, next to Meadowood Park near Northwood High School, in Irvine.

The service is open to the public.
