The cast of "Jersey Shore" is set to return to television for a fourth season in Italy on August 4, according to Deadline.com.
"Jersey Shore" was the top-rated cable shows of 2010. The series depicts a group of party-loving, self-proclaimed "Guidos and Guidettes" and has become a pop culture phenomenon.
"Poised to get their G.T.L. on abroad, ready to drop in on Vinny's family for a famous Guadagnino dinner and excited to trade gorillas for Italian stallions, this wacky and dysfunctional family is about to turn 'The Beautiful country' upside down," MTV said in a statement when the news was first announced in January.
"GTL" stands for "Gym, Tan, Laundry," which constitutes the activities "Jersey Shore" stars typically engage in regularly.
Cast member Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and co-star Deena Nicole Cortese were recently involved in a minor vehicle crash in Italy while filming for the fourth season.
The Italian website La Repubblica said a Fiat Multipla carrying Polizzi, Cortese and a "Jersey Shore" production worker struck a traffic police squad car in Florence on Sunday afternoon. Two cops were taken to a local hospital but there were no reports of serious injuries, it reported.
The cast is set to return to the show's original location, Seaside Heights, New Jersey, for filming of the fifth season. Production of the new season is slated for late June, shortly after the cast returns from Italy.
Three of the show's cast members also have their own shows in the works set to air in 2012.
The network announced in April that they will build the "Jersey Shore" franchise with two new programs starring Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Jenni "JWoww" Farley and Paul "DJ Pauly D" Delvecchio, which will begin production later in the year.
