Reese Witherspoon will be honored with the Generation Award at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards.
Witherspoon's "Water For Elephants" co-star Robert Pattinson will be presenting the Award, which honors the actress' achievements in comedy and drama.
"Reese Witherspoon is one of the most versatile and accomplished performers of her time," MTV President Stephen Friedman said in a statement. "Our viewers admire her for taking risks and for the breathtaking range of her roles. She fearlessly moves between dramas and comedies and always leaves everyone guessing what she'll do next. We are thrilled to honor Reese with this year's 'MTV Generation Award.'"
The Oscar-winner has received several Golden Popcorn nominations in the past and took home the Best Comedic Performance Award in 2002 for her work in "Legally Blonde."
The 35-year-old actress was spotted wearing a leg cast last month after twisting her ankle. In March, she married Hollywood agent Jim Toth at her ranch estate in Ojai, California.
Witherspoon was married to actor Ryan Phillippe, 36, between 1999 and 2008. During their marriage Witherspoon and Phillippe had two children daughter Ava, 11 and son Deacon, 7.
She is also known for movies such as "Legally Blonde" and won an Oscar for the 2005 film "Walk the Line." Witherspoon recently filmed the action-romance flick "This Means War" with Chris Pine, Angela Bassett, Tom Hardy and comedian Chelsea Handler.
Pattinson will also be presenting an exclusive clip for his upcoming movie, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" with his co-star Kristen Stewart. Pattinson and Stewart are up for an Award in the "Best Kiss" category.
"Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson is also expected to be at the Awards show to present an exclusive clip from the final film in the franchise "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," which is slated for release on July 15, 2011.
Last year's Generation Award recipient was Sandra Bullock.
