When "Pretty Little Liars" returns for a second season on ABC Family on June 14, the "liars" start off where they left off in the finale, which is not necessarily a comfortable spot.
But "Liars" star Shay Mitchell caught up with OnTheRedCarpet.com at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards and said fans won't miss any of the action in the season 2 premiere.(Warning: Spoilers ahead!)
"Pretty Little Liars" is about four girls, Hannah (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario), whose lives and friendships come undone after the mysterious murder of their group leader Allison.
A year after Allison goes missing, the group begins to receive messages from an unknown person going by the name of "A" threatening to expose secrets only Allison could've known.
The season 1 finale ended with Spencer being investigated in Allison's death and a series of other problems for the girls, including the missing body of Spencer's sister's fiance Ian but Mitchell says fans won't have to wait long to solve that mystery.
"The season premiere takes place moments after the girls leave the church, so you don't miss a beat," Mitchell told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "You get to see everything that happens and you will get to find out what happened to Ian's body. Is he dead? Is he alive? Is he on a beach somewhere? You get to see all of that. A lot of craziness."
The successful television series is based on the wildly popular book series of the same name by Sara Shepard. The show has been described as the "Desperate Housewives" for teenagers. The "liars" have a lot on their plate in their second season and "Pretty Little Liars" star Lucy Hale recently revealed that therapy will play a major part in the upcoming season's drama.
"The girls are in therapy and so the therapist has a big part in the girls' lives throughout season two," Hale told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a recent interview. "We sort of let everything come out and we talk more than we should to this therapist and then we find out that 'A' knows we're going to therapy and sort of messes with us in that way as well."
Hale also revealed some spoilers about Mitchell's character Emily, who has her own issues, with her mother struggling to accept that she's a lesbian and her military dad trying to uproot the family to Texas, where he is stationed.
"Emily tells a big lie to her mother about Texas and at one point we don't know if she's going to go or stay," Hale said. "I don't know how much I can share about that."
While it's unclear whether Mitchel will stay in town or relocate to the Lone Star State, the actress is quite happy to be a part of the hit show.
"We're shooting until December, so right now we're just doing episodes seven and eight," Mitchell said. "And we're having a blast with it, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else right now."
Season 2 of "Pretty Little Liars" begins on June 14 on ABC Family. ABC is the parent company of OnTheRedCarpet.com.
