"The Vampire Diaries" is returning for its third season in September and the season 2 finale certainly left plenty of drama to sort through in the third season premiere.
"Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev caught up with OnTheRedCarpet.com at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards and dished on kissing her co-stars and last season's cliff-hangers. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)
"We wanted to leave it on a note where people were wondering what's going to happen next and kind of be confused by it, cause then they would have to come back to find out what happened!" Dobrev told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "A lot of cliff-hangers - Jeremy and Anna and Vicki and Kayla [Ewell] is here, as my hot date. So, it's going to be interesting to see where it goes."
In the finale, Dobrev's character Elena kissed her boyfriend Stefan's (Paul Wesley) brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) when she believed he was dying and her younger brother got surprised by his ex-girlfriends who were presumed dead in previous episodes.
"Stefan has gone to the dark side and leaves Elena kind of high and dry," Dobrev said. "So it's going to be interesting to see what she does with Damon, or what she doesn't do with Damon."
Fans might think that Dobrev is in an enviable position, kissing a pair of charming vampire brothers, but she insists that there is nothing romantic about the on set love scenes.
"I don't know, its work! It's funny, because everyone kind of wonders. On set with those scenes, the kissing scenes or the love-making scenes are always the most awkward," Dobrev said. "There are a hundred people watching you. That's a very intimate, private thing and when you're on set, it's not really intimate or private at all."
"The Vampire Diaries," which is the CW's most-watched show with an average of 4 million viewers, was renewed for a third season in April.
