Riverside police officers carried the Special Olympics Flame of Hope through downtown Riverside Tuesday.

It was just one segment of the torch run for the Special Olympics Southern California.

In all, more than 35 law enforcement officers take part, carrying the torch some 1,500 miles through 300 communities.

The officers collect donations for the run and the money goes to help the Special Olympics. Last year the organization raised more than $1 million.
