High heels may increase risk of arthritis

LOS ANGELES

They may look great, but experts say there's new evidence that they increase a woman's risk for arthritis later in life.

Researchers in England found that the towering heels can alter your posture, increasing pressure on your foot, ankle and knee joints. They said all of that contributes to osteoarthritis.

Experts suggest keeping your heels below 1 inch and opting for round-toed shoes with shock-absorbent soles.
