Kim Cattrall says she is unsure if a third "Sex and the City" movie will get made and also does not know if she will reprise her role as sex-crazed Samantha Jones.
In February, Sarah Jessica Parker, who played main character Carrie Bradshaw in the hit R-rated HBO television and film series, indicated she would be open to starring in another movie sequel, adding there was "one more story to tell."
The first "Sex and the City" movie was released in 2008 and made $415 million worldwide, generating an approximate $350 million profit for the film studio. The second movie, which was set in Abu Dhabi and hit theaters in 2010, made about $95 domestically and $288 million worldwide. It had a production budget of about $100 million and was criticized by most top movie critics.
"I don't know if it will happen. I really, really have no idea," Cattrall, 54, told PopEater recently at the second annual Aruba Film Festival red carpet gala for her independent film 'Meet Monica Velour.' "I love playing Samantha Jones. I would love playing Samantha Jones again, but I don't know if I will."
In "Meet Monica Velour," which was released in the United States two months ago, Cattrall plays a former adult film star named Linda Romanoli. Cattrall, who is known for her trim figure and who has bared her body many times on episodes of "Sex and the City," gained 20 pounds for the role.
"It was three years ago," she said on Howard Stern's Sirius XM radio show in April. "That's how long it's been to get this movie out. Three years. I loved it. I ate everything and I don't have a private chef. Every woman has cellulite. I've seen anorexics with it."
Cattrall told PopEater that she was asked to gain 30 pounds but that she didn't want to make herself sick.
"We made a deal saying I would gain 15 lbs before the film and 5 lbs during," she said. "But I did enjoy grabbing my stomach and feeling what that extra weight felt like."
Cattrall is also keeping busy with other movie projects. She stars alongside Jeremony Irons in the drama film "The Treehouse," which tells of a "love quadrangle" and is set for release in 2012.
