Amber Portwood, who starred on the MTV reality series "Teen Mom," was recently hospitalized in Indiana after an apparent suicide attempt.
ABC News quoted police in the city of Anderson as saying that the 21-year-old was admitted to a medical center on Tuesday, June 14, after threatening to kill herself and after reportedly fighting with her ex-fiance Gary Shirley, the father of her 2-year-old daughter Leah, over the phone.
Portwood and Shirley have not commented. Last week, she was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to two felony domestic battery charges. She was accused of assaulting Shirley in front of their daughter in 2009 and was seen hitting him on a September 2010 episode of "Teen Mom." Portwood no longer has custody of the couple's child.
"Our understanding is that Amber has been admitted to a local hospital but we have not been able to confirm the accuracy of any reports being circulated and are waiting for further details," an MTV spokesperson said in a statement to OnTheRedCarpet.com.
"Teen Mom" returns for a third season on July 5 and has also been renewed for a fourth.
