OTRC: Lady Gaga's meat dress goes on display at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The public will be able to get a closer look at Lady Gaga's infamous raw-meat dress that she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

The dress, made of layers of Argentinian beef, goes on display Thursday at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the " Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" exhibit.

It took several months for the dress to be prepped for the museum, according to the Associated Press. The outfit was kept in a meat locker, placed in chemicals and dried out, giving it a beef jerky-like look. The dress had to be painted to look fresher, the wire service quoted a Hall of Fame spokeswoman as saying.

The pop singer, who arrived at the ceremony in Los Angeles on September 12, 2010 with several members of the U.S. military, had said she wore the dress to protest the "Don't Ask, Don't tell" policy.

The animal rights group PETA condemned the singer's dress. Lady Gaga, 25, said on "The Ellen Degeneres Show" she did not mean to cause disrespect to vegans or vegetarians by wearing a meat outfit.
